Does God Care About the Vulnerable? (Psalm 146) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we study Psalm 146, the first of five psalms that begin and end with a call to praise the Lord. Here we see God's heart for the vulnerable, the oppressed, the hungry, the stranger, and the widow. I pray it moves you to bring hope to others and speaks hope to you when you need it most.

"Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever" (Psalm 146:6)

Questions this episode answers

What is Psalm 146 about?

Psalm 146 tells us not to put our ultimate trust in human leaders, who cannot save and whose plans end. Instead it praises God, the Maker of heaven and earth, who stays faithful forever. Then it lists the ways He cares for people in need.

Who does God care for in Psalm 146?

The psalm says the Lord brings justice for the oppressed, gives food to the hungry, sets prisoners free, opens blind eyes, and raises up those who are bowed down. He protects strangers and supports the fatherless and the widow. His heart leans toward the vulnerable.

Why shouldn't I put my trust in people?

People can be good gifts, but they are limited and mortal. Psalm 146 says the one whose hope is in the Lord is blessed, because He never fails. Our deepest trust belongs to Him.
