Why Does the Book of Psalms End With Praise? (Psalm 150) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we finish our Psalms series with Psalm 150, the grand finale of the whole book. Singing, dancing, and every kind of instrument are called to praise the Lord, along with everything that has breath. As we close this series, I pray the message of the Psalms stays with you and that you remember how loved you are.

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6)

Questions this episode answers

What is the main message of Psalm 150?

Psalm 150 calls everyone and everything to praise God, in His sanctuary and in the heavens, with every instrument and with dancing. It also tells us why, for His mighty deeds and His greatness. It closes the Psalms with pure praise.

Why does the book of Psalms end with praise?

The Psalms hold lament, confession, fear, and thanks, yet the book ends in praise. That shape reminds us that our honest prayers lead us back to worship. Whatever we walk through, God is still worthy.

How can I praise God when I don't feel like it?

Psalm 150 says everything that has breath should praise the Lord, so if you are breathing, you are invited. Praise can start small, like naming one thing God has done. Our feelings often follow as we focus on who He is.
