What Is Hesed, God's Steadfast Love? (Psalm 36:5-6) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we look at Psalm 36 and the Hebrew word hesed, God's loyal and steadfast love. God did not stop being involved after He finished creating the world. He is still present and still sustaining us through His love, and that changes how we walk through an ordinary day.

"Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies." (Psalm 36:5)

Questions this episode answers

What does the Hebrew word hesed mean?

Hesed describes God's steadfast, covenant love. Bibles translate it as lovingkindness, mercy, or unfailing love because no single English word holds all of it. It is love that stays loyal and keeps its promises.

Is God still involved in the world after creation?

Yes. Psalm 36 pictures God's love and faithfulness reaching to the heavens and His care preserving both people and animals (Psalm 36:6). Scripture shows a God who keeps sustaining what He made.

How can I experience God's love in daily life?

Start by remembering that His love does not depend on your performance. Psalm 36:7 describes people taking refuge in the shadow of His wings. Time with Him in the Word and in prayer is how that love becomes personal.
