Why Shouldn't We Chase Wealth and Status? (Psalm 49) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Platform building and wealth are two things a lot of people seem consumed with. Today we look at Psalm 49 to see why that pull is so strong and how it can lead us to a dangerous place. God calls us to pursue the things that make a kingdom impact instead.

"But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For He will receive me." (Psalm 49:15)

Questions this episode answers

What does Psalm 49 teach about money?

Psalm 49 reminds us that wealth can't buy our way out of death or pay the price of a soul. Rich and poor face the same end. Only God can redeem a life, so our trust belongs in Him.

Is it wrong to want success or influence?

Success itself isn't sinful, but Psalm 49 warns against trusting in it or finding our worth in it. The real question is what we're building and why. Jesus calls us to store up treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).
