Why Do I Feel Dread When There's Nothing to Fear? (Psalm 53) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Om avsnittet
We have all had moments of feeling overwhelmed with dread. It is part of being human, yet we often overlook the ways God wants to step in for us. Today we look at Psalm 53 and see how God moves when we least expect it to rescue and restore us.
"There they were in great fear where no fear had been." (Psalm 53:5)
Questions this episode answers
What is Psalm 53 about?
Psalm 53 opens with, 'The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.' It describes people who live as if God does not exist and the corruption that follows. It ends with a longing for God to bring salvation and restore His people.
Why is Psalm 53 so similar to Psalm 14?
Psalm 53 and Psalm 14 are nearly the same, with a few differences, especially in verse 5. Scripture often repeats truths it wants us to remember. The repetition stresses how much every one of us needs God's rescue.
What does 'in great fear where no fear had been' mean?
It describes enemies suddenly gripped by terror without a visible cause, because God Himself was acting. It shows that God can turn a situation around when we least expect it. For us, it is a reminder that what we dread does not get the final say.
