How Do I Find Real Rest for My Soul? (Psalm 62) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

In Psalm 62, David points us toward soul rest, which is different from physical rest. Many of us sleep and still feel worn out inside. Today we talk about what soul rest is and how we can find the deep, restoring rest in God that keeps us going.

"My soul waits in silence for God only; from Him is my salvation." (Psalm 62:1)

Questions this episode answers

What is soul rest in the Bible?

Soul rest is an inner quiet and trust that comes from depending on God rather than ourselves. In Psalm 62, David's soul waits in silence for God only, because his salvation comes from Him. It is a rest that can stay with us even when life stays busy.

How is soul rest different from physical rest?

Physical rest restores the body through sleep and breaks. Soul rest settles our fears, our striving, and our need to control by placing them in God's hands. We can be physically rested and still restless inside, which is why Psalm 62 points us to God alone.

What does it mean that God is my rock in Psalm 62?

David calls God his rock, his salvation, and his stronghold, so he will not be greatly shaken. A rock stays steady when everything around it moves. When we trust God as our foundation, we can pour out our hearts to Him and find stability.
