Today we look at Psalm 64 and the damage words can do when they are aimed at us like weapons. David shows us a God who does not sit back and watch us get attacked. He steps in and defends His people, and that changes how we respond when hurtful words come our way.

"The righteous man will be glad in the LORD and will take refuge in Him; and all the upright in heart will glory." (Psalm 64:10)

What is Psalm 64 about?

Psalm 64 is David's prayer for protection from enemies who plot in secret and use their words like swords and arrows. The psalm ends with God Himself turning their words back on them. It teaches us to bring our fear of others to God instead of fighting back on our own.

How should a Christian respond when people speak against them?

Psalm 64 models taking the hurt to God in honest prayer first. We can trust Him to defend us and bring the truth to light in His time. That frees us from needing to get even and lets us take refuge in Him.

Does God really defend His people?

Yes. Psalm 64:7 says God will shoot at the wicked with an arrow, showing that He acts on behalf of the righteous. The same God who saw David's enemies sees what is said about you, and He is not passive.
