How Does God's King Care for the Needy? (Psalm 72) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Om avsnittet
Today we look at a prayer of Solomon in Psalm 72. It reminds us that the king and the kingdom make helping the needy and broken a priority, because they need the hope of the gospel. We ask who God might be calling you to share that hope with, including the people we tend to overlook.
"For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper." (Psalm 72:12)
Questions this episode answers
Who is Psalm 72 about?
Psalm 72 is a prayer for the king, connected to Solomon. It describes a ruler who brings justice, cares for the poor, and whose reign reaches the ends of the earth. Christians have long seen it pointing ahead to Jesus, the perfect King.
What does Psalm 72 say about the poor and needy?
It says the righteous king rescues the needy who cry out and has compassion on the weak. Caring for the vulnerable is central to God's kingdom. As followers of Jesus, we share that same concern.
How can I share the hope of the gospel with others?
Start with the people God has already placed in your life. Pray for them by name, show practical care, and be ready to share what Jesus has done for you. Look especially for those others tend to overlook.
