How Are Righteousness and Peace Connected? (Psalm 85) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Have you ever thought about how righteousness and peace go together? Today we study Psalm 85 and see why it is hard to have one without the other. As we long for peace in our culture and our hearts, this psalm shows us where real peace comes from.

"Lovingkindness and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other." (Psalm 85:10)

Questions this episode answers

What does it mean that righteousness and peace have kissed?

Psalm 85:10 is a picture of two good things joined together. Peace with God comes only when we are made right with Him. In Jesus, God's justice and His mercy meet at the cross.

How do I find true peace?

Romans 5:1 says that having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through Jesus. Real peace starts with being right with God, and it grows as we walk in His ways. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit, not something we produce alone.

What is Psalm 85 about?

Psalm 85 remembers how God restored His people in the past and asks Him to revive them again (Psalm 85:6). It ends with hope that God will speak peace to His people. It is a prayer for renewal in a hard season.
