How Do I Praise God When Life Is Hard? (Psalm 92) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today we study Psalm 92 and how praise and thanksgiving go hand in hand. We ask how we can praise God in hard seasons, and we see that those hard times are often where He shows Himself faithful. Praise grows out of what He has done in our lives.

"It is good to give thanks to the LORD And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;" (Psalm 92:1)

Questions this episode answers

What is Psalm 92 about?

Psalm 92 is titled a song for the Sabbath day. It celebrates giving thanks to God and declaring His lovingkindness in the morning and His faithfulness by night (Psalm 92:2). It also contrasts the short life of the wicked with the righteous who flourish like a palm tree.

How can I praise God when I am struggling?

Praise does not deny pain. It remembers who God is and what He has already done. Hard seasons give God room to show His faithfulness, and those stories become the reason for our praise later.

What does it mean to flourish like a palm tree?

Psalm 92:12-14 says the righteous will flourish like a palm and grow like a cedar, still bearing fruit in old age. People planted in God's presence keep growing and stay full of life in every season.
