What truth sets us free in John 8:32?
Jesus is speaking of the truth found in Him and His word. In John 8:31 He says that if we continue in His word, we are truly His disciples. Knowing Him personally is what brings freedom.
What does Jesus mean by being a slave to sin?
Jesus says everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin (John 8:34). Sin is not just a mistake, it can control us. Only the Son can break that chain and make us free indeed (John 8:36).
Does my family background make me right with God?
The religious leaders pointed to Abraham as their father, but Jesus said their actions showed otherwise. Heritage does not save anyone. Freedom comes through a personal relationship with Jesus.
