Tonight, step into Roman Britain and experience life as a surveyor tasked with turning forests, marshes, hills, and rain-soaked countryside into the next great Roman road.

Armed with measuring rods, wax tablets, cords, and a groma, you spend your days calculating distances, judging gradients, marking routes, and deciding exactly how much the landscape is willing to cooperate. Every stream creates a new problem, every patch of mud demands another calculation, and every perfectly straight line eventually encounters a hill that refuses to move.

Settle in for a quiet journey through the practical world of Roman engineering, where careful measurements, muddy boots, and patient observation help connect the distant corners of an empire.
