HOWB 215 – Interview | Inger Rankins 41st Place Finish and All Night Row in 2018 Human Power Race Seventy48

Today’s podcast is an interview I did with Inger Rankins during the 2018 Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend Washington.

Inger is originally from Norway, and as a youth was regularly rowing the families wooden clinker workboats to and from the island her grandparents lived on. Inger learned to sew her own clothes at a young age, and in 1990 began applying those skills to marine canvas work. She has had her own marine canvas business since 1999 and enjoys the creativity of making sail covers, boat covers and other canvas boat parts. Inger and her husband Sean own and operate Northwest Sail and Canvas Makers.

In this interview, Inger discusses her all night (20 hours straight) rowing in the inaugural Seventy48 human powered race from Tacoma to Port Townsend, WA in a PT Watercraft PT-11 rowing dinghy.
