James R. Fitzgerald is a retired FBI agent, criminal profiler, forensic linguist, media/entertainment consultant, and author. Fitzgerald is best known for his pivotal role in bringing the UNABOM investigation—the most prolonged, expensive investigation in the FBI's histor at the time—to a successful conclusion, resulting in the arrest and conviction of the serial killer Theodore Kaczynski, commonly known as the Unabomber.
