6 Principles of Prayer
1. Prayer is an overflow of our walk with God.
- Acts 4:24
- Prayer is an extension of our walk with God; it does NOT equal our time with God.
- Devotions does not equal your devotion to God.
- You relationship with God is not contingent on your time with prayer.
- Your heart posture towards Him.
2. God loves our presence more than we love His.
- He wanted us, He didn’t need us
- Psalm 149:4
- Zephaniah 3:17
- He simply has pleasure in His people
If you don’t spend time with Him, you deprive Him of His pleasure.
3. We go to prayer to be with God; not to find Him.
- Matthew 6:6
- Exodus 24: 12
- We don't have to strive to be with Him.
- The struggle is to get our flesh out of our comfort and be there with the Lord.
4. We pray in the Spirit.
- 1 Samuel 30:6
- Ephesians 3:16
- Jude 1:20
- 1 Corinthians 20:4
- This is God giving us permission to turn prayer into a spiritual gym.
- You start praying until your emotions shut up and then your spirit take over.
- Speaking in tongues will take you through the turbulence of your emotions.
5. We pray the Scriptures.
- When you don’t feel God.
- When in the dark, the enemy tries to hinder what God revealed in to you in the light.
- It forms your understanding.
6. Always run into secret place when you fall into secret sin
- Go to God first when you commit sin.
- Isaiah 16 :1
- God wants to know where are we, we wants us to talk to Him, to be with Him, and to ration with Him.
