The Four-Winged Dinosaur Changyuraptor
Om avsnittet
Meet Changyuraptor, the four-winged dinosaur with exceptionally long feathers. Discover what its unusual anatomy reveals about the possible evolution of flight.
What made Changyuraptor so unusual? This feathered dinosaur lived about 125 million years ago in China and had exceptionally long feathers on its hind limbs and tail. In this episode, we explore its dinosaur anatomy, including its four-winged appearance, its size and the possible role of its long tail feathers in flight and landing. We also examine the questions surrounding how it moved through the air, whether it glided between trees and what its anatomy can tell us about dinosaur evolution. Although Changyuraptor may have been capable of flight, scientists are still working to understand exactly how it moved. Its discovery adds to our understanding of dinosaur science and the relationship between feathered dinosaurs and early birds. We also review the Black Hills Institute in South Dakota, home to Stan the T. rex, impressive fossil displays and a remarkable collection of dinosaur discoveries.
