Set in a tailoring shop on Ngwa Road, Aba, this episode documents Igbo

intangible cultural heritage through the apprenticeship system (Igba-boyi)

and three ceremonial commissions — an igba nkwụ wedding, a chieftaincy

title-taking, and an elder's milestone birthday — while teaching

conversational Igbo to diaspora learners worldwide. This is a story about

what an apprentice actually learns: that a business's good name is its

most valuable asset.

Research in this episode draws on Dr Kingsley Omeihe (University of

Aberdeen) and Dr Ibiyemi Omeihe (University of the West of Scotland),

2021 — their study of Nigerian trader networks found that trust

(ntukwasi obi) functions as collateral in markets where formal

contracts can't be enforced.
