This is intangible cultural heritage in its most literal form: an endangered social technology, still alive in Onitsha Main Market today, that the world is only now starting to study formally.

Research in this episode draws on Odeh et al., African Journal of Economic and Business Research (2025) — confirming that 84% of former Onitsha Main Market apprentices go on to start their own businesses after settlement.
