10 Habits That Separate the Doers From the Dreamers | Jim Rohn Motivation
Om avsnittet
There are two kinds of people sitting in this room tonight. They look the same. They talk almost the same. They want almost the same things out of life. But one of them is going to have a very different life than the other.
Uploaded 16-10-26
And the gap between them has nothing to do with talent, nothing to do with luck, nothing to do with where they started. It has to do with what they do every single day. The small things. The things nobody claps for. The things nobody sees.
One of them is a dreamer. He can describe the business he's going to build, the body he's going to have, the house he'll live in. And five years from now, he'll describe the very same life, in the very same words, still not having it. The other is a doer. He may stumble over his words, but he's been quietly building the thing while the dreamer talked about it.
Here is the truth: a dream without a habit attached to it is just a wish. The habit is the bridge, and most people never build it, so they stand on one side of the river their whole lives describing the other side.
This seminar walks through 10 habits you must understand about the quiet separation between the person who builds a life and the person who only describes it.

WHY THE GAP STAYS INVISIBLE UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE
The separation is never a single dramatic choice. There's no alarm that goes off when you drift onto the dreamer's path, no one who taps you on the shoulder to say you're falling behind. It accumulates silently in the early mornings and the small decisions nobody witnesses. By the time it shows up in the results, the habits that produced it have been running for years. That's why most people feel inspired by a seminar, go home, and change nothing.
THE WALL THAT'S ONLY THICK AT THE DOORWAY
The resistance to doing hard things is front-loaded. It's thick at the threshold and it thins out once you've begun. The dreamer never finds this out because he never walks through the wall. He stands in front of it, feels the full weight, and concludes the whole thing is that hard the entire way. The doer has broken the link between how he feels and what he does. His feelings get to come along for the ride, but they don't get to drive.
WHY THE WORD YOU GIVE YOURSELF GOVERNS EVERYTHING
You protect your promises to other people because you care about your reputation with them. But you have a reputation with yourself too, and every broken promise teaches you that your own word means nothing. Build that account high enough and you become a person who can be counted on, first and foremost by yourself. A person who can count on himself can build absolutely anything.
WHAT TO DO TOMORROW
Pick one habit — the one that landed hardest, the one that found the place where you've been hiding.
Make a promise so small you cannot fail, and keep it before the world wakes up.
Decide tonight what your one important thing is, and do it first thing in the morning.
Finish one thing you've been meaning to complete, even imperfectly, all the way to the end.
Write down the one or two numbers that actually matter and look at them honestly.
