10 Ways Money Slips Through Your Fingers | Jim Rohn Motivation
Om avsnittet
That's the thing about money slipping through your fingers. It doesn't feel like slipping. It feels like living. It feels normal. It feels like the way everybody does it.

You chase a raise. You chase a better job. You chase more income, always more income, believing that more coming in will fix the problem. And then more comes in. And the problem stays exactly the same. Because a bigger river running into a bucket full of holes does not fill the bucket. It just runs faster through the holes.
Here is the truth: most people who struggle with money are not struggling because they don't earn enough. They're struggling because of what happens to the money after it arrives. It comes in the front door and walks right out the back, and they never stopped to watch the back door.
This seminar walks through ten things you must understand about the holes in your bucket — and how to patch them one at a time.

WATCHING THE BACK DOOR
Money responds to attention. The money you watch tends to stay. The money you don't watch tends to leave. Most people can tell you exactly what comes in and have no idea where it goes — not within hundreds of dollars, not within a thousand. That not-knowing is the real leak, because you cannot manage what you refuse to look at. The spending itself was never the problem. The drift was the problem. The unconscious hand reaching for the wallet with no part of the mind ever asking whether it should.
WHY THE SAME DOLLAR CAN BUILD OR DRAIN
Every hole shares one root: a dollar handed to the wrong side. Interest either works for you while you sleep or against you while you sleep — there is no neutral. A liability quietly takes money out of your pocket no matter how good it looks in the driveway. Vanity feeds on itself, so the nicer the thing you buy, the nicer the thing you feel you need next. The wealthy direct their money toward what comes back. The struggling direct it toward what leaves and never returns. Same income, opposite direction, two completely different destinations.
HOW THE LEAKS ACTUALLY CLOSE
None of this requires earning a dollar more. It requires deciding on purpose — giving each dollar a job before it arrives, so no dollar wanders off. Give your money a channel and the same water builds the exact life you chose. Study money the way you'd study anything that determines your freedom for the rest of your life. When the leaks stop, the same income that used to disappear starts to accumulate.
WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK
- Write down everything you spent last month until you can account for it.
- List every recurring charge and cancel the ones you don't use.
- Give every dollar of your next paycheck a job before it arrives.
- On your next large purchase, ask whether the first price is the only price.
- Read one serious book on how money works.
