Stop Setting Goals You Secretly Don't Believe | Jim Rohn Motivation
Om avsnittet
You stood up. You said it out loud. "This year I'm going to double my income." And everybody clapped. And for one warm moment, saying it felt almost as good as doing it.
But some quiet part of you, way in the back, already knew you weren't going to do it. You didn't believe a single word of it. You were performing belief — acting out the motion of setting a goal while the belief that's supposed to power it simply wasn't there.
Here is the truth: a goal without belief is just a wish wearing a costume. And every time you set one, you're not just failing to reach it — you're teaching yourself that your word means nothing.
This seminar walks through the things you must understand about why the goals you don't believe in are quietly costing you, and how real belief actually gets built.

WHY YOUR GUT REFUSES TO PLAY ALONG
Your subconscious is not fooled by a grand declaration. It only responds to evidence. When you set a giant goal with no history behind it and demand belief, you're asking for belief with no proof — and that's not belief, that's fantasy. The comfortable, weightless feeling when you set a big goal is not a good sign. It's the feeling of a goal your gut has already dismissed. Real belief has weight. It sits on your chest. It follows you around and says, you know you have to start.
THE STAIRCASE, NOT THE ELEVATOR
You don't reach the top by convincing yourself you belong there. You reach it by accumulating. Shrink the goal until your gut can actually accept it, do that version, and collect the proof. Then the next step can be a little bigger, because the evidence has moved forward. After ten small steps you're no longer the person who set the goal — you're a person with a track record, someone who has proven, over and over, that when you say you'll do something, you do it.
THE GOALS THAT WERE NEVER YOURS
Some of the weight you carry was handed to you — by parents, by people you admired, by what you thought you were supposed to want. You can't fully believe in a goal you didn't choose, because the conviction was never there. If it isn't yours, put it down. Setting it down isn't quitting. It's finally telling the truth about what you actually believe.
WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK
- List every goal you're carrying and mark which ones you'd bet money you'll actually move on.
- For each vague goal, name a specific line you either cross or don't.
- Ask of each one: do I want this, or do I want to be the kind of person supposed to want it?
- Put down at least one borrowed goal that was never yours.
- Pick one real goal and take the smallest believable step before Sunday.
