Episode 323: The Initiation/We Bury the Dead

Hello and welcome listeners to Episode 323 of Journey with a Cinephile: A Horror Movie Podcast. In this episode, your tour guide, David Garrett Jr., rings in 2026 by officially starting his New Year, New Movie segment. This marks number 23. The randomizer selected The Initiation (1984) and I’m pairing it with We Bury the Dead (2025). This double feature uses the concept of trapped protagonists, family secrets and different evolutions of the ‘final girl’. I also got to see these films for Mini-Reviews: The Beast with Five Fingers (1946), The Legend of Blood Mountain aka Demon Hunter (1965), Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1990), The Untamed (2016) and The House on Haunted Grounds (2026). I also cover 4 episodes from the final season of the original run of the Twilight Zone. I hope you enjoy coming on this journey with me!
