A state wildlife biologist is sent to survey a remote hollow in southwest Virginia where the deer numbers have never added up. A trail worker takes a solo 6-week contract in the most isolated drainage of the Great Smoky Mountains, a section the park quietly rotates workers through and never explains why. Neither of them ever went back.
