Fall asleep tonight to the opening chapters of Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. Published in 1891, it is the story of Tess Durbeyfield, a peasant girl in fictional Wessex. In this episode, John Durbeyfield learns from the Parson that he has noble ancestors. During the May dance, Tess sees Angel for the first time.
