12. Embracing Contentment with Harlan Redmond

Harlan is the organizing pastor of Interwoven Church in Flintridge, CA. He grew up in New Orleans, LA. Before he left Pasadena for Princeton Seminary he was the executive director of Harambee Ministries. Harlan loves going for bike rides on the beach with his family.

• We expend ourselves as currency - we are sacrificing our well being in an effort to “improve” our life - is it working?
• Start your day by asking yourself, “how can I be more attentive to slowing down?”
• Shame is done to you. Guilt is something you’ve done.
• If you’re in an environment where people are being authentic and honest, you give others permission to be authentic and honest
• Learning to slow down helps you hear your inner voice
• Give yourself permission to participate in something that gives you life, rather than takes from you
• Try to live a little spontaneously
• Take a break from trying to control everything
• Our Contentment Is Already In Us
