Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, is regarded as one of the greatest revolutionaries of all time. Using guerrilla tactics, he defeated a much larger US-backed military regime, leading to nearly 50 years of ruling Cuba. 
 
Many scorn his work and label him as a tyrant, a murderer and an awful leader. 
 
However, Cuba achieved great things under his leadership, such as incredible leaps in healthcare and education. 
 
Under his guidance, Cuba has also played a huge role in foreign affairs, particularly supporting revolutionary groups in Africa and even playing a significant part in the fight against apartheid - something which is completely overlooked.
