Known as 'Gabo', this author is known worldwide for his writing. His masterpieces include 'Cien Años de Soledad' (One Hundred Years of Solitude), considered by many to be the best Spanish language book of all time, and 'El Amor en los Tiempos del Cólera' (Love In the Time of Cholera).
He is credited with pioneering the magical realism (‘realismo mágico’) genre that is now synonymous with Latin American literature.
