Christian Lindell is a former Swedish tennis player with Brazilian roots. He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1991 to a Swedish father and represented Sweden for nearly his entire career. Over the course of his career, he reached a world ranking of 177 and played seven Davis Cup matches for Sweden. One of the highlights of his career came in 2015, when he qualified for the French Open and faced Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in the first round. He now works as a coach in Rio de Janeiro.
In this episode, we talk about Lindell’s background in Brazil, his decision to represent Sweden, how his motivation rose and fell throughout his career, everything about his fantastic run at the 2015 French Open, his relationship with Julius Demburg, winning the team European Championship gold as a junior with Sweden, the keys behind Fonseca’s successes, and of course, we look back on the fitness camps up in northern Sweden—an experience Lindell remembers with both fear and excitement!
