Joseph is joined by longtime Mage player and Storyteller Adam Simpson for an introduction to the language of Mage: The Ascension.

The World of Darkness does more than give players mechanical terminology. Its most important words are also used by characters inside the setting. In Mage, terms such as Arete, Avatar, Seeking, Arcane, and Ascension describe rules, experiences, philosophies, and unresolved mysteries.

Joseph and Adam also discuss why Mage can intimidate new players, how its free-form magic system differs from traditional spell lists, and why Paradox should be understood as more than a punishment mechanic.
