In this lecture, Esau, Jacob, Israel, Neville explores the biblical story of Esau and Jacob as a profound allegory of spiritual evolution. He explains that these figures are not historical persons but represent different levels of consciousness that every individual must pass through.

Esau symbolizes the outer man, the physical being dominated by the senses, who believes only in what he can see, touch, and rationalize. Jacob, the inner man, represents the power of imagination, the ability to supplant physical reality by mentally assuming a new state and remaining faithful to it. Over time, through repeated use of this inner power, Jacob is transformed into Israel—a state of divine realization, where man becomes one with God.

This transformation involves an internal struggle. Jacob, initially known as the deceiver, must wrestle with himself and his perceptions of reality until he is renamed Israel, "a man after God’s own heart." ABOUT NEVILLE GODDARD:

Neville Goddard (1905-1972), was an English writer, speaker and mystic. He grew up in Barbados and moved to the United States of America as a young adult. 

Neville Goddard was perhaps the last century’s most intellectually substantive and charismatic purveyor of the philosophy generally called New Thought. He wrote more than ten books under the solitary pen name Neville, and was a popular speaker on metaphysical themes from the late 1930s until his death in 1972.

Possessed of a self-educated and uncommonly sharp intellect, Neville espoused a spiritual vision that was bold and total: Everything you see and experience, including other people, is the result of your own thoughts and emotional states.
