At age 24, Chad Marks was sentenced to a 40-year federal mandatory minimum sentence. The prosecution offered him a plea deal that could have resulted in a 10-year term if Chad would admit his guilt. Instead, he went to trial, was convicted, and sentenced to the four-decade term. His sentence is now a little over halfway complete.
