🎙️ Special Episode – “When Love No Longer Feels Effortless”
Welcome to this special episode of the MBT podcast.
In this episode, we once again step inside a one-on-one therapy session — a conversation that begins with restlessness, frustration, and the desire to simply be left alone.
Too many questions.
Too much advice.
Too many expectations.
And the feeling of constantly having to explain yourself.
But as the conversation slows down, something else emerges beneath the frustration.
A longing for peace.
For safety.
For warmth.
And for a place where you do not have to be anything for anyone.
Today, we listen to a session where relationship patterns, old insecurities, love, and loss gradually come together.
Leading to a confronting question:
Can you still deeply love someone when you no longer know where the passion and connection have gone?
⸻
🧠What is central in this episode
When everything becomes too much
Sometimes there is no single problem.
Questions, comments, expectations, and emotions simply begin to accumulate.
Even good intentions can start to feel like something else you have to respond to.
Until only one need remains:
Just leave me alone for a while.
⸻
Judging yourself before the other person speaks
A look.
A posture.
A change in someone’s expression.
Sometimes that is enough.
Before the other person says anything, something inside already concludes:
I must have done something wrong.
This session reveals how quickly old insecurity can become intertwined with the present.
⸻
When two walls keep getting higher
One person feels misunderstood and withdraws.
The other experiences distance and begins to protect themselves.
Every disappointment seems to add another brick to the wall.
Not because love has disappeared.
But because both are trying to protect themselves.
⸻
Love, warmth, and passion
Then the conversation shifts.
What if you still love someone…
but the sense of ease has disappeared?
What if you long for warmth, love, and passion, but constant tension makes them increasingly difficult to reach?
Love can still be there, while connection becomes harder to find.
⸻
Escaping to where you can be yourself
Elsewhere, something different happens.
There is appreciation.
Recognition.
Energy.
Space to be yourself.
That feels good.
But when is something healthy because it gives you energy — and when does it become a way of avoiding what hurts elsewhere?
⸻
The place where you have nothing to prove
Later, the conversation unexpectedly turns toward the past.
Toward people who once provided safety.
Toward loss and saying goodbye.
And toward how a child can learn to protect themselves by pushing feelings away.
Underneath it all, a simple need emerges:
A place where you do not have to explain.
Fix anything.
Or prove anything.
Where you are simply allowed to be.
⸻
🌟 The common thread
The common thread in this episode is safety.
Safety in relationships.
Safety within yourself.
And what happens when the person you seek safety with can also awaken old feelings of insecurity.
Mentalizing means slowing down.
Not immediately reacting.
But exploring:
What is actually happening inside me?
And:
Am I responding to the present… or to something I have carried for much longer?
⸻
đź’¬ Closing
This episode begins with the desire to shut everyone out.
But underneath it lies a deep longing for connection.
Not for more questions or solutions.
But for warmth, love, and safety.
For someone with whom you do not always have to be strong.
Perhaps that is where an important shift begins.
Not only learning where your boundaries are…
but daring to feel what you truly long for.
“I don’t need to solve anything right now… I just want somewhere I’m allowed to simply be.”
