Michael Mayo: Surrender, Science & the Standard of Mediumship

This week I’m joined by internationally respected medium and teacher Michael Mayo, and we’re diving deep into the mechanics of mediumship, spiritual development, and what it really takes to do this work well.

From his humble beginnings in a massage therapy class to studying with some of the best UK-based mediums (hello, Gordon Smith and Eileen Davies), Michael brings a grounded, practical and evidence-based perspective to the world of mediumship.

In this episode, we talk:

• Why surrender is the key to great mediumship
• The three sources of tension that block spirit connection
• The difference between UK and US development styles
• The role of ethics and why standard really matters
• Real-life physical phenomena and home circle magic ✨
• Spiritualism, social media mediums & the future of our field
• Science, consciousness studies & why it's finally catching up

Plus, Michael shares the inspiration behind his book Spirit Speaks, his views on the spiritual TikTok generation, and his incredible experiences with physical mediumship (no hessian sacks required).

I'm starting a circle, and you're invited.

Most people developing their mediumship are doing it on their own. From September I'm running a monthly development circle inside Spirit Social, where you practise with other people instead of just reading about it. Over 12 monthly live events, alongside daily card readings and live demonstrations.
