In this message, we continue the Summer of Prayer by looking at Jesus’ words, “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Through the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18, we see that forgiveness is costly, repentance is essential, and receiving God’s mercy should transform the way we extend mercy to others.  

Forgiveness does not mean the wound never happened, trust must immediately be restored, or reconciliation is guaranteed. It means surrendering the debt to God and refusing to let offense or bitterness keep you in bondage. Learn how to forgive quickly, keep forgiving when the pain remains, ask the Holy Spirit for help, and allow the process of forgiveness to make you more like Jesus.
