We continue our exploration and celebration of all things S&M2 by sitting down with principal bassist of the San Francisco Symphony, Scott Pingel.

Scott is now known and beloved by Metallica fans all over the world for his incredible tribute to Cliff Burton in a jaw dropping performance of “Anesthesia.”

In this episode we learn about Scott’s background (yes, he was a Metallica fan) and his journey through music into landing one of the most coveted gigs in the country. We learn behind the scenes details of the symphony’s rehearsals and preparation for the S&M2 gigs, the origin of Scott’s idea to pay tribute to Cliff, his audition in front of the band at HQ, technical details about the shows themselves (monitors, pedals, crowds, working with Big Mick), and hear a detailed and emotional breakdown of Scott’s amazing composition.
