Making sure that every single word in your story exists for a reason is a skill.
It’s a skill I’m constantly sharpening and, given that I’m a bit long-winded by nature, one that I don’t know I’ll ever master.
But it’s a skill that our four-year-old son puts to through its real-world paces on a nearly daily basis.
Because four-year-olds have attention spans that can only be measured in nanoseconds, whenever I’m telling my son something, I need to get the main idea across using as few words as possible.
