Breathe deeply,

and let yourself relax.

With each breath,

feel the calm

running through your body.


PAUSE


And, while in

this place of calm,

imagine digging up

a time capsule.


PAUSE


Take a minute

to observe the

time capsule,

looking at its

color and shape.


PAUSE


After observing it

for a minute,

you notice how to

open it.


You pull a latch,

and the capsule

opens like a

spaceship.


PAUSE


You place your hand

into the time capsule

and pull out an item

from your past–

a time of

great change

in your life.


PAUSE


Looking closely 

at the item,

think back 

to the time period

when the change occurred.


Was it an easy change,

or one filled with anxiety

and pain?


Allow yourself to

keep distance 

from any emotions

related to the change.


PAUSE


Now, reach your hand

into the time capsule,

and pull out another item

from a time of change

in your life.


Again, keeping your 

emotional distance,

think about this change.


Did you handle it better

than the other change?

Or, maybe you handled it

differently?


Reflect on the two changes.


PAUSE


Now, as you reach your hand

into the time capsule again,

You pull out an item with a note.

Interestingly, the item

is not related to a change.


It is a stopwatch.


PAUSE


You open the note and read:


“This stopwatch will help you

whenever change is too much.

Just start it when you feel overwhelmed,

and watch as your feelings fade

with the passing of time.”


“Then stop the watch 

when you feel better.”


PAUSE


Now, visualize

taking the stopwatch,

and putting in

an imaginary pocket

that will always be with you.

So, the next time that

change is hard,

you just need to

pull out the stopwatch,

start it, 

and watch time 

and your stress 

pass by.
