Back in the Highlands, superstition and survival collide at St. Ninian’s spring, trust is solidified, and a very inconvenient truth emerges: the only way to keep Claire safe may be marriage.

Then, of course, we have Jamie Fraser — friend, protector, emotionally competent king — as chemistry snaps, glances linger, and fate barrels forward at full speed. Trauma, desire, clan politics, and power all converge as Claire navigates a world that is closing in on her… right on the eve of a wedding she never planned.
