009-Y Chromosome Loss in Cancer and T Cells

1 tim 4 min29 juli 2025

This paper explores the implications of Loss of Y chromosome (LOY) in men, specifically its connection to cancer outcomes. The research indicates that LOY is prevalent in both malignant cancer cells and benign cells within tumors, with a strong correlation between LOY in epithelial cancer cells and in other cell types, including T cells. The authors suggest that LOY in T cells leads to immunosuppression, contributing to poorer patient survival, and propose a model where LOY in tumor cells might induce LOY in surrounding benign cells. Ultimately, the study highlights LOY in both cancerous and non-cancerous cells as an independent predictor of survival, offering new avenues for cancer research and therapeutic considerations.
