[MAD MEN] 509: Dark Shadows, with Jake Flores
Om avsnittet
The Sno Ball is the Sin that Gets You into Hell
Comedian, podcaster, and co-host of Pod Damn America, Jake Flores, joins Matt & Vince to discuss Mad Men season five episode nine, “Dark Shadows.”
This week’s Draper-D story is a parody of “Eleanor Rigby,” (which was Sisqo’s inspiration for “The Thong Song,” in case you hadn’t noticed) but it could have easily been a song by The Heartbreakers and their leader Tom, because everyone is being so petty.
Betty is trying to turn Sally against Megan because she’s a sad, fat, divorced woman who just squirts whipped cream in her mouth and thinks about her ex-husband. Those are Vince’s words, but to be fair, that is how the show depicts her. Don’t be mad at Vince because Matthew Weiner made her this way.
Don realizes Ginsberg has better ideas for the Sno Ball account so he attempts to bury his new rival’s pitch in favor of his own. Then we get the famous scene where Don says he doesn’t think about Ginsberg at all, and if your understanding of that scene were entirely based on memes, you might think he meant it. Lucky for you, you have this podcast to explain the art to you between parody songs that recap the episode in terms that rhyme with "poopoo."
