Sarah Wayne Callies and Paul Adelstein host a bonus episode of Prison Breaking with Sarah and Paul featuring series creator Paul T. Scheuring to discuss the full first season. Scheuring says he hasn’t rewatched episodes since the edit bay, recounts how the show emerged after his feature-writing partnership ended, and describes early producer interest (including Bruce Willis’s company and Spielberg) before Lost’s success prompted Fox to greenlight the pilot. He explains choosing Joliet Prison to make the prison a “character,” building the cellblock set, and having a planned arc in which the escape occurred at the end of season one (after Fox asked to stretch his initial idea). He credits the writers’ room and casting for characters like T-Bag and Haywire, discusses shifting to novels for authenticity, notes he preferred the series end after two seasons, and answers fan questions about props, favorite character to write, later-season involvement, and an unfilmed season-six idea tied to the tattoo artist, Sidney.
