Sarah Wayne Callies and Paul Adelstein welcome this episode’s co-writer, Seth Hoffman.  Prison Break was Seth’s first Hollywood job and he was one of the first people hired onto the show by Matt Olmstead as the Writer’s Assistant.  He shares his unusually quick rise from writer’s assistant to staff writer and now showruns WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY.  He describes how he was hired at the start of season one, promoted unusually quickly, and why the room was uniquely functional and generous, offering assistant education through episode cut viewings and editorial notes. They explore season three’s tonal shift to a darker, less-controlled world for Michael, shaped in part by looming Writer’s Guild strike uncertainty and network concerns about bleakness.

Hoffman shares casting memories (notably William Fichtner as Mahone), the use of fake audition sides to avoid spoilers, limited writer-on-set practices, and lessons from producer Karen Usher.
