In her book Existential Conflicts, Joanna de Ângelis offers the idea that we are so busy, distracted, are worried all the time. The demands of our world hinders our needs to slow down, to pause to meditate, and to seek opportunities to achieve psychological maturity. There is a desperate need to be everywhere at once, pushing us to collapse in exhaustion. We become victims of ourselves:We lose contact with the Self. We are exhausted. We submit to the demanding and unrewarding ego.We become 'slaves' to other people' opinions, applause, and unrealistic expectations. Despite the widespread mental confusion and behavioral problems, our lives have two purposes: love and the search for the meaning of existence, which are both powerful reasons to live for.
