The Alice in Hell record, recorded in 1988 and released in 1989 on Roadrunner, was a culmination of the entire genre. Embodying elements of speed metal, hardcore punk, proto-death metal and every permutation of thrash, Alice in Hell is a fitting goodbye to a scene that brought extreme metal to a wider audience and made way for the underground to rise.
