Getting Personal This Week with 'The Shiny Bass' - Steve Cook

🎵This week's episode hasn't gone through the typical script-writing/editing process. This morning, I saw on Instagram a bass player I know posting about a curveball in his personal life. This bass player, named Steve Cook, was on a Roots Music History episode last year where we talked about a 619 year-old tree that stood on George Washington's property (and Betsy Ross, by the way, is said to have been buried under that tree along with several civil war soldiers....the tree's history is just incredible) and was being turned into GUITARS. This was such a cool story to me, I knew I wanted to cover it on Roots and it was one of the first stories I ever did here. Steve Cook was so helpful and knowledgeable. He came to my studio and BROUGHT THE GUITAR and even let me hold it! This was back when my channel only had maybe 2k subscribers, so I knew when I saw his video this morning about his wife's diagnosis I had to do something to help. To me, helping means roping in the Roots Music History family to shower him and his lovely wife with prayers, positivity and to share his go fund me fundraiser on my videos.
