Axler: ‘Tremendous Valuation Downside’ for Monster (MNST)

Ben Axler sees “tremendous valuation downside” risk for Monster Beverage (MNST), citing its dependence on Coca-Cola (KO) for its distribution, shrinking market share, and "out of step" product offerings. He addresses Monster’s response to his short report, calling it “boilerplate,” and says his research is based on publicly available information and interviews with former employees. “At a minimum,” he expects MNST to underperform the market.
