Bracing for ‘Dramatic Moves’ on August 1 Tariffs

Dean T. Smith “isn’t sure” where the 50% copper tariff came from and thinks that announcement isn’t getting the attention it deserves. “The market is getting too complacent about the potential impact of these tariffs,” he argues. “If we don’t get the TACO effect…you could see some pretty dramatic moves in fixed income…and even the stock market.” He emphasizes that trade negotiations are “tough” and take a long time.
