Cassidy: Regionals Can Outperform Big Banks as Fed Lowers Rates

Regional bank issues caught the market by surprise last week, says Gerard S. Cassidy, and covers the health of the financial sector. Big banks have done “very well” driven by strength in capital markets, while the regionals have lagged. However, he thinks that if the Fed continues to cut rates, regionals could outperform big banks next year when the latter have tough comps. He also explains why he thinks having lower rates is important for the economy.
