‘Cracks’ in the Labor Market as Tariffs Drag On

“Cracks are starting to reveal themselves” as the trade war drags on, warns Mitchell Barnes. He looks at the latest JOLTS report, which he calls “rather good” on the job openings end. Previewing Friday’s jobs report, he says that this will show us the biggest impact of trade policy so far. He notes that layoffs are slowly rising, and it could weaken the labor market more than we think.
