Retail Earnings Recap: ANF Pop, DKS ‘Top 5’, M ‘Disappointing’ Despite Smaller Brand Success

Jan Rogers Kniffen spotlights retail earnings: ANF, DKS, and M. He calls their quarters “ok,” but says short selling meant that Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) was able to pop around 20% today. He calls Dick’s (DKS) one of the top 5 retailers in America and says that while he wasn’t “thrilled” with the acquisition of Foot Locker (FL), he “understands” the strategy. He calls Macy’s (M) “disappointing,” with the major part of its brand struggling despite smaller brands, like Blue Mercury, doing well under their umbrella.
